Environment Setup

Once prototype step is over. Physical environment setup needs to be done for development, QA and Production. Based on requirement analysis one can define the tools required for the BO solution, server details, server size, database to be used to store the data. Its always better to have separate environment for QA, Production and development as this would help to manage the Data warehouse project in well manner.

Setting up production Data Warehouse environment is bit tough job as you never know when your resources will go out if Business grows very fast and data grows rapidly. Always plan for next 10 years considering the existing data, performance need, future business growth, which will help you predict the future data which will be stored in Data Warehouse.

In addition to environment setup human resources required for to execute the project also needs to identified. Based on physical resources and tools and technologies to be used for the project define the technical skill set required for the project execution and hire the best brains. As success of the project is very much depends on the human resource factor.
